Our food company, Hola Island Provisions, was started in 2021 by the restaurateur Luis Roman. After nearly a decade of serving his famous Spanish food out of his restaurant The Campus Grille Latin, in Berea, OH, Chef Lou wanted to bring the cuisine he loves to kitchens across the country! Our first line of spices is intended to replace the traditional mass-produced and chemically filled products which have become staple ingredients in Hispanic kitchens.
Our spice blends are crafted with the Freshest and Most Local Ingredients to pack as much flavor and love into every bottle as possible. Inspired by the rich and storied Caribbean culture, our Cuban, Puerto Rican, and Jamaican blends are meant to highlight each culture's unique flavors.
In our first year, we were fortunate enough to find great success selling our spices at Local Pop-Up Events, Farmer's Markets, and other similar events which allowed us to invest in our production capabilities, staff increases, and even our new product line launching in 2025. Late in our second year, we finally had the production capacity to meet retailers' needs and started growing our presence in stores. Our Caribbean marinades are currently available at 21 retail stores across Northeast Ohio!
While managing the production and distribution of our marinades, we will be opening a specialty grocery store and expanding our product line by 2025! We have been given the opportunity to be a vendor inside of CentroVilla25, a Latin marketplace located in the heart of Clark-Fulton. Our space will be a mini grocery store offering specialty Latin products and will be our empanada facility where we will produce our empanada dough discs and serve limited small-batch empanadas.
